Regional Convention 2012 recap
This year’s Regional Convention was LEGENDARY! USYers enjoyed the best weekend ever, making our “family reunion” a true success!
The two co-Chairs, Lucas Eager Leavitt and Heather Moskowitz, worked tirelessly to make sure that everyone had a great time, while our senior night co-chairs, Greg Rovenger and Leora Graber devised a night that our seniors will not soon forget!
Friday started with elections, which were- as always- stress filled. Congratulations to the incoming regional and divisional boards, we know that there are great things in store for the incoming year due to your creativity and drive. After elections, we all came together for our social actions speaker who talked about her life of giving back to those less fortunate, followed by Kabbalat Shabbat.
Shabbat arrived and everyone came together to sing and daven as one. Shabbat evening was full of Ruach and learning, with study sessions on the very fitting topic of relationships and family.
Saturday night was bittersweet, punctuated by divisional boards being discharged and inducted, followed by the dance!
Sunday morning started with a Social Actions fair with collecting socks for Lone Soldiers, making blankets and even taking a stand against Bullying. After the fair came regional discharges and inductions, with a fair amount of tears coming from both boards (or maybe they just came from the old board and me.) Anyway, we ended the weekend on a high note, welcoming the extraordinarily enthusiastic 8th graders into the amazing world of METNY USY!
This was a regional convention that was unique in so many ways.
It was one that I’m sure none of us will ever forget!
Hope to see you all at Encampment, this year is going to be without a doubt our best yet!
