Beth El Synagogue Center, New Rochelle

Beth El Synagogue Center in New Rochelle NY is a dynamic congregation, comprised of 750 families, located 20 minutes from New York City.  Beth El is looking to hire enthusiastic and motivated youth service leaders to work with the children of our community both on Shabbat and the High Holidays.  All leaders will work closely with the Synagogue’s Rabbinic Assistant, Jeremy Fine.

1)      Junior Congregation:  We are looking for a weekly service leader that will be responsible for on average for two Shabbatot a month.  One service will be geared towards children in grades 3rd-6th.  The leader will work with our Rabbinic Assistant to formulate a curriculum and will be expected to create a welcoming, exciting and engaging environment.

2)      Torah for Tots: This service leader will work with our youngest children, babies through 5 years of age.  Services traditionally have included a Torah service, stories, songs, etc. Parents attend the service with their children.  Services run approximately 60-90 minutes.  The leader will work with our Rabbinic Assistant to formulate a curriculum/outline for the service and will be expected to create a welcoming, exciting and engaging environment.

Huntington Jewish Center

Israel Center of Conservative Judaism

An Egalitarian Conservatice synagogue is seeking a dynamc individual to conduct a Family Service on the first day of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur for young children and their parent/grandparents.  The leader must be able to discuss the holidays, their symbols and significance, and explain the importance of the holidays as part of the Jewish calendar.  A children’s “machzor” is available as well as a library of books.

Montebello Jewish Center seeks a Youth Director/Adviser.  The candidate should love working with children and be skilled at engaging and inspiring them. S/he should be a creative, dedicated, energetic, and warm person, who loves being Jewish and is able to imbue our youth with a love of Judaism. Qualifications and Requirements

  • Advanced degree and minimum 5 years experience in special needs education or related field
  • Strong knowledge of Jewish community, culture, and religion
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills, ability to work both as a part of a team and independently
  • Ability to have flexible schedule, includes 1-2 weeknights and/or Sunday each week

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:·

  •  Provide consultation and support around areas of special needs education to local synagogues’ Early Childhood and Religious School programs (classroom observations, student assessments, parenting and teacher professional development, etc.)·
  •  Lead regularly scheduled self-contained religious school class for children with special needs·
  •  Develop community-wide steering committee on Jewish education for the special needs population on the North Shore·
  • Lead community-wide Jewish activities and events for the special needs population (Passover seder, Chanukah, etc.)

JCC Teen Programs Coordinator

Part Time (10-15+ hours per week)

Work with the JCC Director of Teen Services to:

-           Connect with pre-teens and teens, creating meaningful relationships

-           Recruit participants and with them, plan and execute community-service, social and cultural programs and events.

Qualifications and Requirements

-           Bachelor’s degree or working towards Bachelor’s degree

-           Experience working with youth in school, youth group, or camp setting

-           Knowledge of Jewish culture, religion and community

-           Creative, entrepreneurial and ambitious spirit

-           Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

-           Strong computer skills, including social media

-           Availability to work weekday afternoons, some nights and weekends

USY CHAPTER LEADER

Kane Street Synagogue in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, is looking for an outstanding and experienced youth advisor to start up our USY teen group this winter/spring. Candidates must have previous USY youth group leadership experience. The position involves outreach to teens in the community; regular chapter and board meetings; and participation in divisional and regional events.
